About DoNotStay

I’m Damir damirkotoric.com, a software developer and digital nomad. I’ve been traveling full-time since 2018, booking hotels across Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

After one too many hotels that looked nothing like their reviews — bedbugs in a “highly rated” guesthouse in Croatia, mold in the bathroom of a “9.0 Superb” hotel in Vietnam, cockroaches in a place with “spotless” in the description — I got tired of the guesswork.

The problem wasn’t that the information wasn’t there. Other guests had reported every one of those issues in their reviews. But those warnings were buried in hundreds of reviews, drowned out by the majority who had a fine stay. The aggregate rating never budged.

So I built DoNotStay. It’s a Chrome extension that uses AI to read detailed guest reviews on a Booking.com hotel page and surface the problems that matter — bed bugs, mold, noise, safety issues, hidden fees, and more. You get a clear verdict (Stay, Questionable, or Do Not Stay), a confidence score, and the specific red flags with evidence from actual guest reviews.

It’s the tool I wish I had for every hotel I’ve ever booked.
