HOMA is a solid hotel with great facilities, but your experience depends heavily on which room you get — street-facing rooms suffer from significant traffic and construction noise, and ground-floor rooms have their own set of problems. There's also a single flagged sewage smell report and a damp smell complaint, both isolated and handled by staff, but worth knowing about if you're sensitive.
🚩 Red Flags
“My room smelled musty and damp despite AC units running which caused me to be congested. There seemed to be water dripping behind a wall. The shower had a slight sewer smell. The AC Unit filters were very dirty.”
“The first studio we were assigned had an unpleasant damp smell due to humidity. The staff kindly moved us to another unit, which was much better, although there was still a slight smell in the furniture.”
“My room faced the street and the noise was simply unbearable. It seems the hotel should consider soundproof windows so guests can rest without listening to the city hum.”
“Unfortunately we had a room with a balcony facing the street and the balcony door was not properly sealed. We could hear everything, so it was quite loud at night. There are also a few construction sites nearby.”
“It appears 50% of the rooms face the main street and 50% face the inner courtyard. Unfortunately we got the street-facing rooms which were quite noisy with traffic.”
“Ground floor rooms: avoid at all costs. Bathroom is very cramped, there is no window but a large one into the garden where anyone can see you. We had a festival literally outside our room. Constant elevator noise throughout the night. We ended up leaving without staying the rest of the week.”
“The only downside of a ground floor room is very little natural light. Balconies face the courtyard and are blocked by plants for privacy — cosy but you need artificial light during the day.”
“Construction work from 7 in the morning. Two hotels under construction right next door.”
“There is a building site opposite the hotel, every morning it's noisy.”
“There is a huge construction site which was 6 feet from our balcony.”
“Jang and Massee were very helpful with checking in and checking out. Room has a slight ant infestation.”
“Dogs left without leashes, doing their business on the walkways. This caused smell, wet patches, and the risk of stepping in puddles. Very unpleasant.”
“Many guests with dogs that bark in the rooms and the patio from 6am to 11pm.”
“Breakfast wasn't great, only 3 options to choose from so very limited. We had paid for breakfast but didn't eat there any day — lots of amazing cafes around.”
“Same breakfast menu every single day for all 13 days.”
“We arrived and the rooms were not the ones we paid for — it was a big downgrade. After 2 days they moved us with another downgrade. This hotel clearly violated the terms of our booking.”
“I wrote to HOMA four months before arrival requesting adjacent rooms for our family. Our rooms ended up on different floors. We had only one key card per room, meaning we always had to move as a group of four.”
“We visited the pool 3 times in 16 days — every time all loungers were occupied. Residents simply left towels and went about their day for 3-4 hours. This is inconsiderate.”
“They were very rigid about towels and signing them out at the pool area.”
